The curriculum is based on the NYS Pre-K standards which include language and literacy development, creative expression, social studies, mathematical awareness and scientific thinking.
Much of this learning occurs while children play. Play is the foundation for academic learning and physical development and promotes social interaction through hands on activities.
The environment in each program is designed to be inviting to children, provide opportunities to discover, stimulate thinking and interaction with peers and adults. There is ample time and opportunity for art, block play, sand and water activities, and dramatic play. We have a large outdoor playground and outdoor play is scheduled twice daily (weather permitting). The curriculum is theme based.
Children scheduled to attend on Tuesday participate in yoga class, presented by The Children's School of Yoga, based in Monroe, NY. Music class is held on Friday and is taught by a certified Music Together teacher.
Nutritious lunc and snacks are prepared daily and served "family style"; social interactions and appropriate table manners are encouraged. The children learn proper eating habits and the value of good nutrition.
The Children's Station has an "open door" policy where parents are always welcome and are encouraged to share their talents and interests with the children and staff in the center.
