PROGRAMS

Program Overview

Children are unique individuals who amaze us with their ability to absorb and learn from their environment. The programs are designed to foster this ability and to develop the whole child, including physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

The curriculum is based on the NYS Pre-K standards which include language and literacy development, creative expression, social studies, mathematical awareness and scientific thinking. There is a focus on STEM activities.

"Play is the highest form of research." Albert EInstein

Much of this learning occurs while children play. Play is the foundation for academic learning and physical development and promotes social interaction through hands on activities.

The environment in each program is designed to be inviting to children, provide opportunities to discover, stimulate thinking and interaction with peers and adults. There is ample time and opportunity for art, block play, sand and water activities, and dramatic play. We have a large outdoor playground and outdoor play is scheduled twice daily (weather permitting).

A variety of special programs are offered throughout the week. Gymnastics, taught by Gym on Wheels, is available on Monday. Tuesday is yoga day, taught by The Children's School of Yoga. Mrs. Piazza teaches music on Friday.

A nutritious lunch and two snacks are prepared daily and served "family style"; social interactions and appropriate table manners are encouraged. The children learn proper eating habits and the value of good nutrition.

The Children's Station has an "open door" policy where parents are always welcome and are encouraged to share their talents and interests with the children and staff in the center.
